The Marion O. Sandler Lifetime Achievement Award[Deadline July 25, 2008]The Marion O. Sandler Lifetime Achievement Award is an annual recognition of an individual whose outstanding personal and professional achievements are marked by a demonstrated ability to inspire excellence in others and an unrelenting commitment to use personal influence to ensure that local, regional and national policies reflect progressive thinking, thoughtful policy alternatives, and American values in keeping with the pursuit of liberty, community and shared responsibility. This Lifetime Achievement Award is named in honor of Marion O. Sandler, chairman and co-CEO of Golden West Financial Corp. In 2007, Cathy Allen, former CEO of BITS and founder and chair of The Santa Fe Group, was recognized with the award. This Lifetime Achievement Award is named in honor of Marjorie Magner, former chairman and CEO of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Group. Ms. Magner, who retired from Citigroup in October 2005, is co-founder and managing partner of Brysam Global Partners. In 2007, Shirley Nelson, founder, chair and CEO of Summit Bank in Oakland, CA, was recognized with the award.
